Niche audiences
Niche audiences are groups of Testers who share a set of common traits or behavioural habits. They are helpful for narrowing down who you’re collecting feedback from. We can create custom audiences that are unique to your product, service, and research goals. You can reach a subset of our Community who meet specific criteria when conducting User Interviews and Self-Guided Tasks in Fable Engage.
How to set up a niche audience
Define the criteria that is important for your research goals, then work with your Fable Customer Success Manager to create an Audience Filter for Testers who meet that criteria. We will ensure that each Audience Filter is inclusive and has a variety of assistive technology types so that you can get an adequate range of feedback.
Once your Audience Filter has been created, you will be able to select it during the “Create Request” flow.
Do I have access to Audience Filters?
Custom Audience Filters are a paid offering that can be added to your current Fable Engage subscription. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information.

What criteria can I use to create an Audience Filter?
Almost anything! Behavioural and shopping habits, experience in a certain industry, preferences, demographics, and more.
Examples of Audience Filters include Testers who:
- Have experience with technical concepts like artificial intelligence
- Manage financial decisions for their household, such as debt management, daily banking, and investing
- Can speak to the challenges of booking and using transportation options including ride-shares and air travel
For more ideas, refer to our Community Research Panel Report.
Are Audience Filters the same as screeners?
No. Fable’s Audience Filters are predefined lists and cannot be altered case-by-case for each user study. Connect with your Customer Success Manager to find out how to turn your idea into an Audience Filter.
