The future of research is inclusive

Let’s be clear: current research practices are broken. While there are many qualitative and quantitative research tools to help product teams gather insights, traditional research methods overlook the needs of a significant portion of the population—especially people with disabilities. Conventional research practices suggest to focus on the masses – 80% of users, reinforcing products that cater only to those who already have access and excluding those who don’t. This further perpetuates the digital divide.

Fable is redefining research by shifting the focus from the 80% to the 20%. We empower our customers to prioritize the needs of people with disabilities—the individuals most often left out of conventional research. These communities are marginalized, but they’re not marginal. By designing for these edge cases, companies create products that are not only more accessible but also more innovative, adaptive, and user-friendly for everyone.

Fable is proud to host one of the world’s most engaged communities of people with disabilities. This funding allows us to broaden our reach, expanding into communities with hearing impairments and cognitive disabilities, in addition to the existing representation of visual and motor impairments. We’ll continue creating opportunities for our testers to contribute valuable insights to some of the biggest brands in the world while also helping them build new skills and experiences to enter the tech workforce.

Innovating with AI and inclusive datasets

The proliferation of AI is transforming every aspect of life and work, from healthcare to finance to education. However, if not carefully designed with inclusivity in mind, AI has the potential to deepen the digital divide. This is why Fable is focused on building inclusive datasets—so that AI tools can be tested, from the outset, for bias and designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities. In 2025, we’ll launch this offering, to help organizations that are on the cutting-edge of AI innovation to create truly inclusive technology.
